Digging for Gold

by: Nehemiah L. Hemingway

Unaware of on-looking eyes
Planning to attack your space;
Formulating a group of lies
For when you meet face-to-face.

The truth becomes a disease–
A plague that frightens the world.
Now beauty becomes a beast
Who would prefer diamonds and pearls.

Make sure your mind is focused
On the thing you cannot see–
The motive behind the words;
The truth that’s underneath.

All of this because of your style;
An attempt to score some cash.
You managed to ignore her smile.
She gets up an leaves at last.

The brain is a powerful tool–
You use it to stop her plot;
Forcing her to see she’s a fool
And you to realize you’re not.
