Denying Love

by: Nehemiah L. Hemingway

Alone you are safe, unless a danger to yourself.
Peace is achieved when there is no one else.
You have more time to focus on your needs.
You’re the only critic for how you ought to be.

Alone is not somewhere most prefer to stay;
Sometimes you need to be, it helps you get away.
It’s in the midst of silence that patience is obtained,
And the realization that you experience less pain.

Alone is where you may like to be, yet you can’t deny
The feeling that occurs when you look in another’s eyes.
Sometimes you find comfort in unexpected places.
Sometimes you share love with unexpected faces.
