Another's Pain

by: Nehemiah L. Hemingway

Tears fall, but not my sorrow.
Heartaches, yet it’s not my pain.
Thoughts formulate, but not for my sake.
A falling soul, yet I can not save…

The hurt is too much to handle
This worrying, I can not bear.
My life, I’ll go on living,
But this ache will always be there.

Words are forever spoken,
Yet ears may not always hear.
Hearts may end up broken,
But love will not disappear.

This cave, I’ve stumbled into,
And I have a torch with me.
But sharing the light with others
Does not mean their eyes will see.

The mind is a self-owned maze,
Unknowingly, you trap yourself.
So it is not an amazing feat
To get lost in someone else.

Rain falls, but not my storm.
These shadows are not my clouds.
I want the rays to shine through
But you will not allow…

Not there when you are lonely
Believe me, I want to be…
That’s when I kneel and pray:
“Lord, fill that space for me.”

There’s nothing quite like pain
Even if it’s not yours.
So this is what I mean
When I say my heart is sore.
